Australian traveller praises India’s hospitality after month-long solo journey
An Australian woman who spent a month travelling solo across India has shared a touching account of her experience, describing Indians as some of the most hospitable people she has ever met.
Paige, a travel content creator from Australia, recently posted a video on Instagram reflecting on her journey through India. In the video, she praised the kindness, generosity, and warmth she encountered throughout her travels, saying the experience made her fall in love with the country.
Although she initially felt nervous about returning to India alone, Paige said her concerns quickly faded as strangers repeatedly went out of their way to help her.
One memorable incident took place shortly after she arrived in Delhi late at night. Due to road closures near her hotel, her Uber driver parked as close as possible and personally escorted her to the entrance to ensure she reached safely.
In another instance, a pharmacist who lacked sufficient change for her purchase offered her a complimentary bottle of hand sanitiser instead of leaving the transaction incomplete.
Paige said such acts of kindness were not isolated incidents but a regular part of her travel experience across India.
She also recalled being helped by a woman when she lost her way to a bus station, receiving a scooter ride from a restaurant owner during heavy rain, and being warmly invited by an elderly woman to enjoy freshly made pakoras.
Reflecting on her journey, Paige said these experiences convinced her that India is one of the friendliest and most welcoming countries she has visited.
“I couldn’t have felt more welcome,” she said, adding that the generosity of ordinary people made her solo adventure both unforgettable and deeply rewarding.
Her story has resonated with thousands online, highlighting the warmth and hospitality that many travellers experience while exploring India.
