Victorian Premier praises multicultural unity during visit to Cranbourne Mosque

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan visited the Cranbourne Mosque to thank community leaders and worshippers for their fundraising efforts supporting bushfire-affected communities across Australia.

During the visit, Allan met with Imam Khalid Hamed and mosque committee members, praising the generosity and compassion shown by the local Muslim community in assisting families impacted by recent bushfires.

The Premier said the fundraising campaign reflected the strong community spirit within Victoria’s multicultural society and highlighted how different communities unite during times of crisis.

“All communities across Victoria step up when people are doing it tough, and this is another example of that generosity,” Allan said.

Members of the Cranbourne Mosque community said the initiative aimed to provide support to regional families and communities recovering from bushfire damage. The mosque has previously participated in a range of charity drives and emergency relief campaigns both within Australia and internationally.

Imam Khalid Hamed thanked volunteers and donors for their contributions, saying helping those facing hardship is an important part of the mosque’s values and community mission.

The visit comes as the Victorian government continues to focus on social cohesion and multicultural engagement ahead of another potentially difficult bushfire season. Authorities have repeatedly stressed the importance of community support networks in emergency response and recovery efforts.

Allan has recently increased engagement with multicultural and faith-based communities across Victoria as part of wider efforts to strengthen connections with rapidly growing outer-suburban areas, particularly in Melbourne’s southeast.

The Premier’s visit also highlighted the growing role multicultural organisations are playing in community welfare, fundraising and disaster relief initiatives across the state.
