Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev has partnered with the Australian Government to launch a mental health programme aimed at supporting teachers and students in government schools across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The initiative has been developed in collaboration with the KHUSHII Foundation and forms part of an Australian Government development partnership focused on improving student wellbeing and educational outcomes.
Speaking at the launch, Kapil Dev welcomed the growing partnership between India and Australia and expressed appreciation for Australia’s support of the Indian community. He also thanked members of the Indian diaspora in Australia for contributing to the foundation’s efforts to assist underprivileged children.
Founded in 2003 by Kapil Dev, the KHUSHII Foundation works to provide quality education, life skills and holistic development opportunities to disadvantaged children across India.
Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles praised the foundation’s work and highlighted the strength of the India-Australia relationship.
“It is an honour to be here with Kapil Dev at the KHUSHII Foundation and witness the remarkable work being carried out to support young people and communities,” Marles said.
The programme is expected to benefit thousands of teachers and students in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, while also strengthening educational cooperation and people-to-people connections between India and Australia.
