British actress arrested in massive $300 million drug bust

British actress charged over alleged $296 million meth import plot in Australia

A British actress has been charged over her alleged involvement in an attempt to import methamphetamine worth nearly $300 million into Australia.

Emaa Hussen, 34, appeared in court after authorities accused her of being part of a drug trafficking operation involving 320 kilograms of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $296 million.

According to police, the drugs were concealed inside sacks of charcoal and shipped from Ghana to Port Botany in Sydney. The shipment came under scrutiny after Australian Border Force officers allegedly discovered a white crystalline substance during an inspection, which later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Investigators claim the consignment was delivered to a storage facility in Girraween, where law enforcement officers were conducting surveillance. Hussen is alleged to have helped unpack the shipment before later travelling to a home in Blacktown, where she was arrested.

During searches, police reportedly seized 32 empty bags believed to have previously contained the drugs, along with electronic devices and a notebook for forensic examination.

Hussen previously appeared in an EastEnders spin-off and also had a role in the film Redemption starring Jason Statham.

Two Adelaide residents, aged 30 and 32, were charged in April over their alleged involvement in the importation. They are scheduled to face court in September.

Hussen remains in custody and is due to return to court in August. The allegations have not yet been tested in court.
