Emilie Kiser opens up about forgiving husband after tragic loss of son
Influencer Emilie Kiser has spoken publicly for the first time about the heartbreaking loss of her three-year-old son, Trigg, and the difficult journey she and her husband, Brady Kiser, have faced since the tragedy.
Appearing on a recent episode of Jay Shetty’s podcast On Purpose, the 27-year-old shared her experience of grief and revealed how she came to forgive her husband following the accident that claimed their son’s life in May 2025.
Trigg died after drowning in the family’s backyard swimming pool while Brady was at home caring for both Trigg and the couple’s newborn son, Theodore.
Reflecting on the devastating loss, Emilie said that nothing can truly prepare a parent for such grief.
“When you lose your child, you don’t really care about anything else except trying to survive each day,” she said. “And the truth is, you never really get through it.”
Over the past year, Emilie said she and Brady have worked hard to support each other through their grief. She praised her husband for allowing her to express every emotion, including anger, without judgment.
“We’ve done our best to grieve together and talk openly about everything we’re feeling,” she explained. “I have so much empathy and respect for Brady. He has allowed me to feel every emotion throughout this process.”
Emilie admitted that in the weeks following Trigg’s death, she felt intense anger toward her husband and even questioned whether their marriage would survive. However, she eventually realised that the same tragedy could have happened while she was caring for their children.
“This could have just as easily been me in Brady’s position,” she said. “He was taking care of our newborn son that night and trying to manage everything at once.”
While emphasising that the circumstances do not excuse what happened, Emilie said accepting that reality helped her develop a deeper understanding of her husband’s pain.
“I would want him to forgive me if the roles were reversed and know that I never intended for something like this to happen,” she said. “That’s how I feel about Brady now.”
The couple’s son Trigg died in May 2025 after being found unresponsive in the pool at their family home. Authorities initially recommended criminal charges against Brady, who was the only adult present at the time. However, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office later declined to prosecute, stating there was no reasonable likelihood of securing a conviction.
Since the tragedy, Emilie has shared aspects of her grief journey with followers on social media, documenting how her family continues to cope with life after the loss of their son.
