Three brothers make once-in-a-lifetime catch off Victoria’s Coast

Three brothers have landed a giant 107.5-kilogram tuna off the coast of south-west Victoria, creating a memorable catch during a fishing trip near Apollo Bay.

Peter, Michael and Andreas Salloum, along with their cousin, were out fishing on the Surf Coast when they hooked the massive southern bluefin tuna. The group spent nearly two hours battling the fish before finally bringing it aboard.

According to the brothers, even their charter captain was amazed by the size of the catch.

Southern bluefin tuna are considered one of the world’s most valuable fish species and can sell for hundreds of dollars per kilogram in international markets. However, recreational fishing rules in Australia prevent anglers from selling their catch.

Instead of cashing in, the brothers chose to share their impressive haul with family and friends, keeping some portions for themselves.

The family described the experience as unforgettable, saying catching a fish weighing more than 100 kilograms is a rare achievement.
