Australia’s most heavily tattooed woman, Amber Luke, has travelled to Spain for two controversial body modification procedures that are not permitted in Australia.
The 31-year-old, who is believed to have spent more than $250,000 transforming her appearance, went to Barcelona to undergo a “coin slot” ear modification and a silicone implant shaped like a bow placed under the skin of her hand.
Luke, also known online as “Dragon Girl,” has more than 600 tattoos covering around 98% of her body, along with several extreme modifications, including a split tongue, sharpened fang-like teeth, and tattooed eyeballs.
She shared updates with her social media followers, saying Australia has banned or heavily restricted such procedures for years.
“I’m about to get two body mods done. I am super keen,” she said online, adding that she had been planning the procedures for over a year.
She described the ear modification as the removal of part of the ear cartilage to create a slot for layered jewellery, and said the hand implant was a long-prepared personal project.
In Australia, subdermal implants are prohibited due to safety concerns and the risks associated with unregulated surgical procedures. While ear modifications like “coin slots” are not outright banned, they are tightly controlled.
In Spain, however, such procedures are legal when performed by licensed medical professionals.
Luke later shared the results of her ear modification with subscribers on her social media platform.
She has previously acknowledged that her appearance has affected her job opportunities but said she is comfortable with her choices, adding that she prefers working with people who do not judge her based on her looks.
