Former bikie boss deported to Australia after detention in Bali
Former bikie boss Angelo Pandeli has been deported to Australia after being detained in Bali, where Indonesian authorities allege he was found hiding in the toilet of a private jet preparing to depart for Africa.
According to officials, Pandeli was removed from Indonesia and arrived in Adelaide on an AirAsia flight early Thursday morning.
However, his whereabouts since landing in Australia remain unclear.
Indonesian authorities claim Pandeli attempted to board a private jet bound for Mozambique on Saturday night using a fraudulent Brazilian passport. The aircraft was reportedly stopped on the runway before takeoff, leading to his detention.
In a statement, Indonesian officials said an Interpol notice identifies Pandeli as a significant figure linked to an international criminal network.
Despite the allegations, 9News understands Pandeli has not been charged with any offences in Australia, and there are currently no allegations of criminal wrongdoing against him domestically.
Multiple Australian agencies, including the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Australian Border Force, the Department of Home Affairs, South Australia Police and court authorities, have been unable to provide information about his movements after his arrival in Adelaide.
The AFP confirmed it is working with Indonesian authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding Pandeli’s detention.
Indonesian authorities have also imposed a lifetime ban preventing Pandeli from re-entering the country.
